Day 1 — TC McCracken: Maria

Naughty Maria propelled her shiny new red metal

up the empty sidewalk under the black midnight sky.

She summited the park, her eyes squinted

as the full moon reflected upon the canvas of undisturbed snow.

The park was totally desolate

but she trekked forward into the white abyss

without a second thought.

With heart, not thought,

she plunged backwards onto the canvas.

An unimaginable amount of snowflakes

gave her a cool hug as she felt her body sink to the earth.

There she flapped her legs back and forth,

pushing away an unimaginable amount of snowflakes

as she painted a single snow angel on the blank sheet of precipitation.

We are alone with our thoughts

but there is nothing like being away from home,

being naught and alone.

She felt energy as she howled at the moon

for everyone to hear.

One by one suburban lights turned on

to see the wild creature in the park.

Maria grabbed her shiny new walker

and pulled her bare ass up

to sneak home before her daughter found out.

As her tennis balls dragged down the cement,

Maria thought things

only imaginable in a mind

that has been reflecting for 30,660 days.

Suburban onlookers did not know what to think,

they just saw 2 full moons and 1 angel.
