Day 1 — Writer Spotlight: Amy Driesler

IMG_0772.JPG

These days Amy Driesler is primarily an actor, though she did begin her creative life as a writer at age 10. She loves performing on stage and occasionally on camera. She was most recently seen in Book-It Repertory Theatre’s adaptation of The Turn of the Screw where she played a trio of characters including the menacing ghost Quint. She and Nick Trotter are co-adapters of and actors in Henry Four by William Shakespeare, which had a limited run in Brooklyn, and are currently working towards a remount in Denver.

Amy and I have known and collaborated with each other since 1988! We met at the Young Playwrights’ Summer Conference in St. Paul, Minnesota, and went to NYU together a few years later, where we studied at Playwrights Horizons. She was in the original Bonejesters with David Leicht and myself at LaMama ETC in 2000, and we have been working on Henry Four since 2011 (Please donate to that production! You can find the link on the main page of this website.) She is one of my dearest friends, and I am overjoyed that she is taking part in the Circo Decameron. — Nick
