Saladin Thomas is a performer, writer, and educator of color. In addition to his work in Circo de Nada, he is the drummer for Denver band To Be Astronauts, and raps under the alias J.M. Blackfriend. He holds a B.A. in Creative Writing and an M.A. in Education, both from the University of Colorado, Denver. He is the 2020 Denver Regional Air Guitar Champion! In his spare time, he writes album reviews and plays needlessly complex board games. You can follow him on Twitter @JMBlackfriend; you can find To Be Astronauts on Spotify and tobeastronauts.bandcamp.com.

Sal is currently one of Circo de Nada’s closest collaborators, particularly in the Late-Nite Voodoo Party at Voodoo Comedy. We have also worked together for years in The Dinner Detectives. He is a tremendous musician and poet, and I am honored to have him as my teacher. — Nick
