Day 2 — Writer Spotlight: Kat Atwell

headshot3.jpg

Kat has a lot of anxiety. She also lives with bipolar disorder and panic attacks. For the past 25 years, she has used creativity as a primary coping mechanism - sometimes intentionally, other times through sheer muscle memory. An improviser, a storyteller, a producer, a comic, and a writer, Kat finds joy in connecting with people through art and laughter. Two of her proudest accomplishments include getting published in McSweeney's and performing in the Denver Moth GrandSLAM. She's also a passionate mental health advocate. You can learn more Kat on her website (presuming she renews her domain in time), katatwell.com. Otherwise, feel free to Google her. There's a lot of stuff floating around.

I’ve known Kat for several years now through the Denver improv community. She’s a brilliant improviser and an incredibly inspiring human being! Her advocacy for others permeates all of her work, from her leadership at IGNITE! Denver to the behind-the-scenes-of-public-life advocacy that she pursues for mental health in the corridors of business and government. She’s always shining the spotlight on others. We are lucky to have her in the Decameron! —Nick
